Can I just substitute an interpretive dance in place of a list?

Although I am generally of the opinion that I would never be a member of a club that would have someone like me as a member, I decided to give this a try.

I don' the Gramsci in front of me to flip through, but I think the most important section is the one on intellectuals. Here are the points that I think the essay makes and their importance for the theory of hegemony.

1) Intellectuals are defined in relation to the social structure. Everyone in society requires intellectual functions to complete their tasks. Intellectual as a social category emerges from a specification of the role of intellectual as being defined by intellectual labor.
2) The realm of ideas is established as an important domain without resorting to idealism. Ideology is cast neither as determining nor as a derivative of social structure. Instead, intellectual production is connected to social structure and the distinction between organic and traditional intellectuals allows for an analysis of ideology and social change without giving prime importance to either side.
3) These first two points substantially rework the base/superstructure model in which the superstructure is cast as derivative of the base.

-Hegemony requires a theory of politics and culture, not simply economic determination.
"I don' the Gramsci" = I don't have the Gramsci,

My discourse is breaking down. The above answer is bare bones. I am going to take a break. May not be able to respond for the rest of the day, but will get to remaining questions/responses by tomorrow afternoon.
Darn, I was hoping it was supposed to say "I accidentally the Gramsci."
I was hoping you'd come back and fill this out a bit, but it looks like it slipped your mind. If you have the time, I'd like to continue this discussion, but if not, I understand.
